AKL Based Newbie looking for options
Hey guys,
I'm completely new to mileage programs and mileage runs. I'm Auckland based and primarily chasing status although some rewards would be nice along the way.
I'm just wondering what airline program would likely be the best for me. I travel about 3 times a year to BKK and Europe but this might increase a little this year. I'm also very open to doing mileage runs etc. I also typically travel star alliance because I hate Qantas and when I was BNE based that was my largest option
Anyway, I would welcome any advice/strategy for programs and status etc
Cheers

I've been looking at the Asiana program because it is Star Alliance and then using Air NZ or other *A carriers out of AKL. What do you think?
The only issue I forsee is that air fares arnt cheap here and im having trouble finding a MR under about 0.15c/mile.

you really need to look into if partner programs actually credit air new zealand flights or carriers that fly out of AKL. i've realized a bunch of lower discounted fares with air nz doesn't earn anything on united mileage plus
i moved to nz beginning of this year, and am about to lose my united status because my low fares don't credit to anything.
