Reciprocity?
I am wondering if different competing airlines honor other airline's status - ex) I am American Platinum and am just a Member on United. Will United offer to increase my status because of where I am with American?
Thanks

You are referring to what is called a status match. While some airlines match status with no strings attached, you will usually have to complete a "challenge" to get your status matched. The equivalency of your status would be United Premier Gold. They would most likely offer you the following: Fly 17,500 qualifying flight miles or 22 flight segments within 90 days to earn Premier Gold status for a year. Please review the 2012 Status Match master thread for more information.

Welcome to FlyerTalk dshroff. Use the "Ask Alex" feature on .bomb and ask about status match. That will lead you to a web page which tells you all want you want to know about status matching on United.
By the way, .bomb is the term of "affection" (frustration) used here on FT by many posters for www.united.com.
