New - Need Assistance

HI!

A friend recommended that I come here and post. However, I am trying to book a flight from Houston to Johannesburg and then from Cape Town back to Houston using rewards points going Business Class through United Airlines. I'm trying to find an itinerary that will leave Houston June 19, 2012 and arrive early morning in Jbrg on June 21 (as my Safari departs that morning). I'd like as few stops as possible.

I depart Cape Town on July 1, that time and date are open - just need flights. Any help is optimal and appreciated.

Welcome! I also live in Houston!

Your best bet is to fly to LHR with UA then you connect with south African airways which is part of the star alliance and you would book these flights on the same reservation. The main minus is that you have a 9-10 hour connection in London. You would arrive in Johannesburg at 7::20 AM local time on July 1. And return the same way, but from cape tow .

Or you could go through FRA or even through IAD. If you go through IAD, you will arrive June 29 mid afternoon. One other thing I would avoid Europe especially London because the Olympics are there. I recommend going through IAD. Good luck with the points though. Let me know if I can help you with anything else!

JUNE 29, 2012
IAH-IAD
IAH 10:02 AM
IAD 2:16 PM EST
ERJ-145

IAD-JNB makes a one hour stop in Dakar and dont have to change planes
June 29, 2012
IAD 5:40
JNB 4:35 PM arrive on June 30, 2012
A340

I would recommend either FRA Or IAD to avoid Olympic crowds.

Welcome to Flyertalk!

I would suggest to fly in the night before. Don't miss your Safari due to possible flight delays, etc. Plus this will give you a chance to get some sleep before departing for your Safari.
