Really, if you're going to start working this, you should take the free 90 day trial of the expedited shipping. It's UPS overnight. And you don't need a code, since there's no shipping to begin with.

Just put a note in your calendar for 80 days, work the GCs hard, and then cancel. Much better - less downtime.
If you use free shipping and code for free fee will there be problems with BC?
I remember reading somewhere its against their TOS or something.

Well, I don't do it. Their terms say:

"Cash back is not offered on fee-free promotional codes."

Yet, some have reported that they still get cash back. But I don't choose to push my luck. I take the free shipping and pay the $3.95.

I use a code that lowers the shipping to $3.95 and keeps the $3 fee and get CB

I haven't done it, but I'm pretty sure it's once per Amex card. I plan to cancel before 90 days and start up again with another Amex on the account.

FYI - here's the email you get when the free period is ending and you need to cancel your free shipping program:

Your Premium Shipping Plan free trial is about to expire.

Dear Customer,
Your free trial for the Premium Shipping Plan will end on April XX, 2013. At that time we will automatically charge you for the annual cost of enrollment using the payment method you provided to us. As a thank you for your enrollment, we will send you a $25 Gift Card that will arrive approximately 2 weeks after we process this charge.

As you know, the plan allows you to receive free Express Next Day shipping on each American Express Gift Card order placed for one full year. We hope you will take advantage often of this service.

If you wish to cancel your enrollment before the free trial ends and you are charged the annual enrollment fee, you may do so by logging in to your account at americanexpress.com/gift. You may also call 1-877-297-4438 to speak with a Customer Service Representative 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thank you for your business.

Sincerely,
American Express Customer Service
The whole program seems to be targeting people who buy them on behalf of others - like a corporate purchasing department. They reward the people in the department via BigCrumbs and this $25 card.

I got this email too from my Costco Amex but since several have posted that if you don't pay the fee you don't get BC cash back then it would be worthless would it not? Or am I missing something?
I have had to file a missing credit with BC for a legit purchase so I know I for one am not going to chance not earning the CB to save a few bucks.

Well, some have said they got CB even with a code. So some take a chance and it works. It wouldn't be the first time that the terms don't agree with reality.

But I feel the way you do: not worth losing the war (1.4%) and winning the battle ($3.95).

How do you guys exit out of Amex GC since there's no PIN for BB load or for MO purchases. I can only think of AP to exit or actual spend. Any other ways?

You need to do two steps at a minimum, not just set a code. YMMV as to when/where that works.

Another promo. Giftfg3 good through 8/31/13
