Question Going from NYC to PRG

Hi Folks,
I am fairly new in this game, but did acquire a few miles. I am looking to travel with my wife in Biz class from NYC to PRG Jul 27 to Aug 4. I found 50K Flying blue reward in Biz class with $59 taxes from JFK to PRG (which I think is not bad). I could not find the flight back for my dates in biz class. Any suggestions what can be used to get from JFK to PRG round trip or one way PRG-JFK and spend fairly low amount of miles?

Any hotel recommendation is much appreciated as well.

Here is the points that I have:
BritishAirways: 100K
Chase Ultimate Rewards: 100K
Amex MR: 100K
Continental: 100K
Delta: 100K
SPG: 100K

Thanks for all your help.

You can try to redeem BA Avios on EI for PRG-DUB-JFK (only Coach class on the PRG-DUB segment). This would avoid the high fuel surcharges that BA charges for TATL redemptions on BA or its oneworld partners.

Or call AA and check PRG-HEL-JFK on AY, or PRG-MAD-JFK on IB or IB/AA. (SPG points can be converted to AAdvantage miles.)

I would stay away from BA the fees are a killer and instead Id use the BA miles for non-stop short haul AA flights in the US eg NY-Miami is 15k AA wanst 25k

what you will need to do is call a carrier from each alliance and ask what if anything they have for 8/4, but you will need to be flex in 2 ways 1- the day of your return and 2nd the cabin = if you will only settle for Business class and on 8/4 its most likely you will end in failure

Then if you dont have top status in that Alliance you will be stuck with what they have (except CO allows changes for $0 up to 21 days out, not sure if its from the original date of the outbound or just the Inbound)

CO shows nothing at all on 8/4 , on 8/5 its PRG-BRU and 8/6 BRU-EWR both in Biz although the IntraEurope flight is really a coach seat

on 8/5 or 8/3 in Coach you can fly PRG-FRA-JFK and the FRA-JFK is on SQ(Singapore on the A-380)

last summer I changed my flights at least a dz times as better routings and days and times became avaialble, but the routing and times I really wanted never was avaialble. But with top status I always had the option to redeposit the miles w/o any fees, w/o that top status you may find yourself not being able to fly on 8/4 and in Biz

Can you change your return to Aug 6? If you can, you could redeem on Delta round trip and with only $46 in taxes/fees. If I were you, I'd jump on that... It's summer afterall.

I'm pretty sure DL is not available for one-way award travel. It blows I know.

No, if you want to redeem DL SkyMiles; maybe, if you want to redeem miles of a DL partner, and the partner permits one-way redemptions.

there should be no problem;

the OP needs to transfer 80k from his Amex to his FB acct (till 2/29 theres a 25% bonus so 80k = 100k) then he already has the JFK-PRG so then he should beable to grab the DL flights on 8/6 that he said was OK

the only thing I dont know is how long does it take for the Amex transfer to get into the acct and will FB hold the seats in the mean time?

No one-ways on DL. You would need to book one RT with your Delta miles and then as another poster suggested, transfer Amex for the other. You could also transfer 80K SPG for the 100K Delta, but I wouldn't risk the availability remaining there as long as the SPG transfer take - and FT would probably beat you for converting 80K valuable SPG into 100K SkyPeso ;-)

I checked for availabilty using Continental/United miles for the route and dates you indicated. Business award seats at saver rate are available on July 27, flying on Austrian Airlines and changing in Vienna. Nothing is available on your preferred return date, but a saver award in Y is available the following day (August 5), taking a LH flight to Frankfurt and a Singapore flight from FRA to JFK. The first business saver award available is on August 7. There is a one-change flight via FRA on LH, and there are numerous available flights through various cities with two changes.

Hope this info helps.
