Chase ---> Southwest Question

The Points Guy has a post dated 1/6/2012 (today) saying that Chase Ultimate Rewards points can now be turned into Southwest miles with a 1:1 ratio.

I know I'm missing something here and I'm hoping someone can set me straight.

I have 80k points from the Chase Priority Club card (Priority Club Reward points). When I log into my account I still only see a 10kpts = 2k miles on any airline deal. Are these somehow different from other Chase points? Why do I not see the 1:1 offer?

Chase Ultimate Reward points are earned with the Chase Sapphire Preferred and/or the Chase Ink Bold. They are different than the ones earned with the Priority Club card. Hope that helps!

This refers specifically to Chase Ultimate Reward Points, which you get from the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Bold Cards.

EDIT: A minute too slow.

Yes, the Ultimate Rewards Points differ from the Priority Club Points (Hotel Chain Specific). You'll need to get a Sapphire Preferred or Ink Bold Card to be eligible for transfers of UR points to Southwest.

Thanks...I had a feeling that was the case, but wasn't 100% sure.

Kind of off topic, but I believe the Chase Freedom also earns UR points.
