I don't fly much, but read almost anything on here I can that might ever come in handy. It really is just like anything else, the only way to get the most out of it is to put time into studying it. Each Program has quirks, and tips, and little things that only make sense once you have the perspective of a few months or more of reading what others have done. Lots to think about.
The basics for me are to ensure I am earning every conceivable mile possible, at the maximum benefit for my future travel. I don't do it very well yet, but I do look back and say "ahh that's what I should have done."
Redemption of miles is a whole other ballgame! And almost as much fun.
Milezbuzz is a good general forum, but the real info is in the Miles&Points forum for your program/airline. Really great info hidden in those about the ways to successfully book, maximize comfort, and save as much $$$ as possible.
