So I just came across some info that could come in handy.
I say might because I'm not sure if it's possible. (This is for RBC Avion or RBC account cardholders for RBC rewards)
Say I have 20k RBC points. I transfer those to Avios at a 1.5 multiplier (special currently going on). Then finding some way to transfer Avios to AA. I understand that it's not possible to transfer from one FF to another, but through OW or another financial institution, can anything be done?
I'm still looking into the combinations. Will let FT know as soon as I have something. In the meantime, anyone is welcome to weigh in on the subject.

You cannot transfer miles between 2 FF programs, even those in an alliance.
Even through mileage middlemen, like points.com, you would do so at a major loss.
The best you could do is use the BA Avios points for AA flights.

Converting from one FF to another FF is usually done at a huge loss (best is to convert from Ultimate Rewards/Membership Rewards/SPG points/etc. to FF programs). There use to be a mileage converter tool on Webflyer/Insideflyer to help you do that: www.insideflyer.com/tools/mileage_converter/
However, I haven't been able to access Webflyer/Insideflyer as of late

In 2010, RBC Avion had a 1.25x AA transfer promo. In 2011, there was a 1.3x AA transfer promo. Otherwise they transfer 1:1.
Why waste your time even thinking about transferring BA to AA (which, even if there was a way to transfer between the two, would likely result in some loss of value), when there is a way to transfer RBC Avion direct to AA?
