Need Help Deciding!! *A/DL for 2012 Program year (starting with no status)
Hi All- Hope you can help.
I've recently stumbled onto the forum as an addition to my love for trip reports and have been reading for a couple of months now.
After reading the posts to this forum, I wonder if expert members would be willing to give me advice as well.
I am currently Silver on US, and have not been travelling a lot over the recent years. My current status was a "gift" from US, as a way to maintain my loyalty. At the start of 2012, I will have no status.
I recently moved to Columbus, OH and am working for a company where travel happens monthly to domestic destinations, and twice annually to South America.
I need help deciding if i should stick with US, change to UA and try to build status on *A (does it really matter which I fly on). The most I can hope for is the occasional upgrade to F on US, but I really liked being able to get E+ on UA pre-merger. Now that, that isn't avail, I am leaning toward UA for the better benefits or so I think....
Also, I've heard it put this way "UA elites play nicely with US, but not the other way around," is this true?
OR do I switch to DL. I've heard the term SkyPesos a lot....and friends of mine would agree. But I also hear a lot of members get constant upgrades.
In my mind, AA is out of the question....I've had terrible experiences thus far, but I can't help but think about how easy connections would be due to AA's service in South America.
So, as you can see Im in a bit of a quandary....any advice would be great. Here are my travel details for a typical year.
-Monthly Segments back and forth to NYC (prefer LGA or JFK when possible)
-Twice quarterly domestic travel to larger metropolitan cities (think ORD, ATL, LAX, and IAH)
-Frequent Travel to the SE (FLL & MIA)
-Twice yearly travel to LIM
-I have the US Airways Visa, but am considering giving up and switching to a UA or DL if it's better for me.
PLEASE HELP
