I have said this many times already but here it is for the last time. They have a flawed system and we all know this. If you want to get back at them use this to your advantage. Look at post #4 in this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...ping-mall.html. Was this just a fluke or can it be duplicated over and over? Use the same technique that was used against Costco and Sams. They have hundreds of retailers that I am sure you can find some that it will work against.

The company is such a joke. I used the Priority Club Shopping program this past summer when they offered bonus points for various levels of spending (1000 bonus points for over $50 and 2,000 bonus points for $100 and over).
Of the 6 items I purchased only 4 have ever shown up. The points were supposed to post by the end of August. I finally received the "bonus" points for 2 of the items 2 weeks ago. I am now on email 16 (as of this morning) and 3 phone calls. The email from them this morning asks me what other purchases I made - info that they have been given 6 different times before and info I know is in their system because it was read back to me on the phone months ago. I was asked to wait until the end of October - nothing. The email last week said please wait 4-6 more weeks. It's amazing how bad they are. On my second phone call the person said I had been through enough for a measly 8,000 points and that she was going to just credit my account right then. Of course that never happened and since then no one has the authority to just "fix" it. Its been 6 months and Cartera still hasn't given a measly 500 AA miles for signing up emails. There is not even a third party here to mess things up. It shows that they are either incompetent or intentionally scamming people. Its best for all of us that they go out of business. |

Ike - they said up to Quadruple and 4 miles per dollar is quadruple. I'd give 'em this one on a legal technicality.
I do not doubt that if cornered they would rely upon your argument or that the T&C clearly note that they are not responsible for their failure to understand the English language or use it to accurately describe their products or services. |
BTW, I did have one merchant (Overstock.com) credit miles accurately and promptly. Does this imply anything about Cartera (their appalling customer service standards aside)? It would seem to support their regular contention that merchants are the issue.
Separately, I have no expectation whatever that any of us will be compensated for the time we spend trying to get Cartera or various merchants to fulfill their promises to us. |
Anyone else find it amusing that someone from Cartera continues to check the forum (at least 2x today) but never has the nerve to comment on their continued failings?
|
I can only imagine what they'd say
"Thank you for your continued interest in Cartera. Cartera Commerce is the leading provider of card-linked marketing solutions that increase revenue and customer loyalty for merchants, banks, issuers and loyalty programs. Thanks to loyal customers like you, Cartera remains at the forefront of extracting value from loyal customers like you. And always remember, Customer Service is our #1 Priority! No really!"
|
"PS: In case you haven't noticed, our actual customers are big banks and merchants."

Ike - ya went and took all the fun out of defending Cartera!:p Ya shoulda known Mr. Cartera is my hero! When I get enough money I'm gonna build a new Mt. Rushmore with the likeness of Ponzi, Madoff, Keating and Cartera on it!:p

No, that would be up to FOUR miles per dollar. Quadruple indicates multiplication of a similar object. Quadruple $1 is $4. Quadruple $1 is not 4 miles. Quadruple 1 mile per $1 is 4 miles per $1.

Maybe they just check in to get a good laugh every now and then.
I think they check in here now and then--you know, in secret, in a solo manner, without telling their friends or spouses, and they 'enjoy' the contents of these threads much in the same way someone might quietly view online pornography or something like that... Some could envision that notion to be comical--in some sense... Hence the direct link--and relevance to the title of this thread. :D |

We will need more stuff. Thanks for that one. Please help us with even more! You are obviously good at helping us with such things.
Now that I did my good deed for the day I can go back to my old self and you can put me back on your ignore list. :D |

As you know miles/points is not my cup of tea but let’s try this. Read the post you quoted from ma91pmh. Then read it again and again. It can be a goldmine of information. Just because a merchant says ABC is excluded does not make it so. If C* is as bad and as incompetent as you say they are it should be clear at what I am getting at. When you find a gem DO NOT POST IT!!!
Now that I did my good deed for the day I can go back to my old self and you can put me back on your ignore list. :D And to be honest, I actually would rather groups like them get it right and fix the holes so we can ALL get miles ALL the time instead of relying on the possible existence of holes so that some people might get some miles while the rest of us have to suffer through the quagmire with nearly every mileage offering ranging from 1-1 million miles we could be waiting on for things we did online. See, if they fix it, we will shop. If they don't, some may score but that means that in a way, those who secretly scored are ripping ME off. (Although I will generally side with the posters/shoppers/individual users over a company like Cartera in nearly every case, AND I will NOT allow Cartera to thus BLAME us for its problems. They began all this.) That said, if you see wordings in my postings that you think I should specifically delete from my posts because they do something or say something that should not be said, just send me a PM specifically highlighting exactly what and where and why, and I will gladly take it out. ie, "hey MM, I noticed you said X. It is either incorrect or leads people or companies down a path many feel should not be done for reasons such as blah blah and blah blah. Can you kindly take that out? It's this line--in post #4444 in the ### thread. Thanks!" |
I think what we have are two opposing points of view - MM is saying it is better if Cartera fixes its Internal Controls and runs its business right and proper while QL is saying Cartera's lapses in Internal Controls make for an opportunity to give them the business. Why can't we all get along and encourage Cartera to fix its business by (legally) giving them the business (in spades) until they do. Seems both a profitable and practical solution. :p

I'm not going to put you on the ignore list. But I have NO clue what exactly you are talking about (again) and I have not only reread each of the posts I have made that reply to this user and essentially I have nothing to hide from anyone, including what I say to Cartera.

MM – Here is what I meant by “DO NOT POST”. I will give a generic example. You find a FI that you can fund with a CC for a large amount. If you post it I can guarantee it will get killed in a matter of days if not hours.
ETA: Also I meant you should read (study) ma91pmh post. |
