First burst: Did I go too far?

Wanting to capitalize on all the great offers before they expire, I just did my first burst of apps:

Citi Visa (75k AA)
Citi Amex (75k AA)
Barclays (40k US)
Chase Sapphire (50k)
Amex PRG (75k)
Amex SPG (30k)

Got instant approval on them all except the Sapphire, due to having 3 Chase cards already.

Whew.

A lot of people don't get approved quickly for the Sapphire Preferred.

I just started and did the same Top 4 (Both Citi AA, Barclays US, Sapphire Preferred). Now I'll sit tight until I meet these minimum spends and after 6 months (Jan, 2012), I'll go after whatever the big deal is then. The Sapphire Preferred is an awesome card for me since I spend a good amount eating out and it is 2:1 for each dollar spent at restaurants! I plan on making that my everyday card after these spends.

Congrats on the instant approval. You can also apply for the Citi AA Business cards in 65 days.

I've never read that before, is it always the case? Or is it a quarterly promotion?

No, they permanently changed it about a month or so ago. Dining and Travel, I believe.

As long as you can meet the minimum spends to qualify for all the bonus miles I don't think your went "too far". I am not sure there is such a thing. :-)

I got several cards back in the March time frame to get in on the AA Visa & Amex, the CO MC, US MC, and then the BA Visa.

Now that the big bonus precedent has been set I think they will keep popping up from time to time. I just worry about first-time cardholder only bonuses becoming the norm.

I was goin to say Chase/Citi didn't let me open more than 2 cards each in a short period of time.

Chase will always work with you to approve. After applying and being approved for 9 CC within 3 months, I finally had the first denial from Chase for the Southwest card. No problem when I called this morning. CS said I already have 3 Chase Cards recently but will work with me to approve which he did.....YIPPPEEEE!!!!

Chase is the greatest.....will hope AMEX will be good to me for bonus miles...today, MR said i need to wait 16 weeks for bonus miles to appear....Never heard of 16 weeks before but only 6 to 8 weeks

Kilton, that's pretty similar to the app-o-rama I'm planning at the end of the month. Did you apply for the Amex PRG with a link, or did you call customer service and get a bump?

I used the standard PRG link on the Amex site. Then, based on the thread here, you have them bump it when you activate (or via secure message afterwards) with code 6661.

Good luck!

You haven't gone too far until you start getting denials.
