That award was worth WHAT???

I'm feeling inspired after watching the new NBC show "that's worth what?"

So i thought it would be fun to have thread listing how much your award ticket was worth if you had paid for a full price ticket with real $$$.

If I go by ITA and the same flight #s (but rolled into next year), my jaunt from YVR to MEL via SIN last month would have cost me $12622.91 instead of the 120K miles and $300 it did.

My IAD-LHR-BKK in F would have cost me & my wife 16K each. I used 320K miles and $450+ in fees. This was in 2006 and fees have gone up dramatically since then.

My record is $45K for an F award and $8K for a Y award. The value of the F award may be skewed because I couldn't price all segments on 1 ticket and had to use one-ways for some of the segments.

this is a valid ? only if you would have paid for the ticket if you couldn't get the award.....

i am paying $350 + 25k mi each way to sit in j....ignoring the mi, that's $35/hour for the seat on a ~10 hr flight....an exit row would be fine for the leg room, but i can't use the exit anymore....even so, i wouldn't spring for the j fare & it wouldn't break me....

grouch grouch, bah humbug!

good luck to all...

Using AA miles my wife and I booked round trip to Europe that would have cost us $12,648.00 in Business/First for next May but used 100k miles each + taxes instead, I think taxes came out to a couple hundred.

BA First from Atlanta to Mauritius, returing from Livingstone, Zambia (atl-lhr-jnb-mru/lvi-jnb-lhr-atl) in November-December this year.

225k*+companion+$2500.

*We booked first on the outbound, business on the return but there was a mistake and we ended up in first both ways. Should have been 270k.

Retail price the day I booked on the exact same flights was $38k ($19k/person). I kept a pdf to prove it.

Totally silly to do a cpm but this thread is silly.

valuing the companion cert at 225K and discounting by the taxes/fees, it values at 7.9cpm.

Really though, this is just a splurge for an experience. We'd buy economy (maybe world traveller plus) if it were cash.

No, I would not have ever paid cash for this F trip, but I think this is fun to look at.

I used 145,000 miles and ~$165 in taxes for a nearly $20K trip in F:

IAD-FRA-ZRH-BKK-CDG-FRA-IAD with LH, LX, TG, and UA.

That was the price given when I forced the exact routing of the award tickect. Could get to BKK in F for quite a bit less, I'm sure.

I used 55k AA miles & $55 for the airfare on this trip: MCI-ORD-STL-LAX-PPT (12 day cruise from PPT-HNL paid with Continental cc for 20k bonus miles)-HNL-DFW-MCI which would've priced at ~$3700/pp. I feel so weak with this contribution compared to BryanIAH & a couple of others, but Bora Bora was SOOOO worth it

Used somewhere btw 250K and 300K miles to book BOS-DPS on CX F for myself and my wife. Tix would have cost $51,203 total. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have paid for them out of pocket.
