Mileage points with Costco

I get 2 points per dollars for groceries and gas on Amex Premier Rewards Gold. Is Costco considered groceries?

Also, is there an AMEX reward shopping mall I can go there to link to Costco to buy stuff?

No. Classified as wholesale store.

Not that I''m aware of.

No, it's considered a discount warehouse not a grocery store. One other idea to maximize points is to buy gift cards at your grocery store for places you normally shop (i.e. Starbucks, Home Depot, Macys, Amazon, ebay etc.). Now you get 2 points per dollar instead of 1 on your Amex.

Thanks both for the answer. Just was about to order Restaurant gift cards. 2 -$50 for $79.99 each and also costco cards for shopping.

You do earn points on a Starwood AMEX for Costco purchases, right?

Sure, the standard 1 point per $1.

There are links to earn sams club points. 1/point per dollar. If you want to give sams club a try instead of costco.

You can buy a Wal-Mart gift card with your Amex card and use it at Sam's.

At least when I buy from Wal-Mart, the merchant is classed as "wholesale."

I've done that before used my AA card at Walmart to get giftcards to be used at Sams because Sam only takes his Discover card.

Has anyone tried buying Walmart gift cards at Safeway etc? Do they sell them there to get more points for groceries?

If you buy costco cash cards online to give to NON members of costco, they can get a free one day pass to go shopping.

I don't plan to keep my membership card for over a year so when it expires, I will be using the costo cash cards I buy online for myself.

Don't you have to be a member to buy the cash card? So next when without your membership wont you be out of luck in buying them or you're planning on buying and holding now?

You don't have to be a Costco member to get buy their GC online. You can use the GC to enter Costco without showing the membership card. The downside to use GC is that you don't have purchase protection and extended warranty provided by Amex.

For big spenders, Costco has the "black" card - Executive Membership that returns 2% on purchases made through cashier (online purchase and gas are excluded). It costs $100 ($50 more than the regular membership) but has the potential to put money back to your pocket.

Extended warranty protection is good for electronics. I go to buy food, toilet tissues and detergent.

I am thinking of using Costco GC after my membership expires.
