That is all I'm doing for the next year.
Famous last words. I say that after each new card I apply for. Since Jan 1 between my wife and I we have earned 1,075,000 miles!! I won't say that I'm taking a break on cards any longer. Now I have trips booked out the next year. I wish someone would come out with a card that offers vacation time off from work!! I need that to use up my miles!

I've also been lurking on FT for quite some time and have tried to figure something out for myself. Time to truly participate!

I'm a college student and want to start this early... I have fair-good credit and already have a few credit cards (not cosigned). Do you think starting at such a young age is recommended?

Not in Looking-glass World. Your intuition does not work in this whimsical world where running up debt makes you more creditworthy and having no debt makes you a pariah.

Use a service like creditkarma.com to see how you look through the looking-glass.

Only if you repeat the mantra "Never borrow money unless you make money!"

Tatoo it into your memory.

Work 4-40's and take long weekends. Then you can take the wife to dinner in Paris.

Well, welcome to FlyerTalk. You are at a good age to start earning and amassing miles and points. Take an organized approach, find lots of tips and advice through the various threads, and commence.

I keep track of my spending and finances very well and understand that the way many people use credit cards will eventually lead them to their doom... I am not one of those misinformed people.

Thanks! I'll continue reading through these many informative threads!
Are there any cards you would recommend I attempt to open?
I currently have a Discover, Capital One (regular, no rewards), AMEX Blue Cash (old tiered one) and Chase Freedom, none of which are student cards.

To start off, this is what I would suggest a newbie to do IMO
You are so right! I'm just PO'd at myself that I didn't play this game earlier. Got 300K AA miles this year, plus I'm expecting 275K AMEX MR points, and another 100K to 150K from Fidelity. OH ya, 50K for Sapphire..was too late for the 100K bonus. And I'm a DL elite, so I'll probably do the 100K MR points transfer for the 50% bonus and 25K MQMs. I have been taking advantage of the now dead mint coints for the last 18 months, although at a much slower pace than others like Mr. Pickles.

Yesterday I updated the How to Begin page of my website below, then I saw this thread. That page might be of interest to you.

As for the slow and steady part, I suggest you sign up to receive an email notice whenever I post something on my What's New page. Directions are near the top of that page.

Caution! This stuff is very adictive.

What are some Canadian strategies of accumlation of miles..

I've done the CIBC Infinite and Amex Gold and Aeroplat.. Any other strategies?
