Trading FF Miles for Hotel Points

I am seeking the most useful site for managing the process of trading FF miles for Hotel points. I want to trade Delta miles for Marriott points. Please advise on any web sites that are the most useful and easy to use. Thanks.

I assume you want to trade them with another person, and not shuffle them from one account to another.

If it is the former please understand that such transactions may be frowned upon by loyalty programs and you could wind up in some degree of hot water with Delta and or Marriott. I'm thinking of transactions on e-Bay or Craig's List.

There are a couple of websites that are sanctioned by the companies, such as Points.com, but the transactions tend to be expensive.

thanks for the feedback. Not looking to trade with individuals but with sanctioned site like Points.com. your right that Points.com is quite expensive so I'm looking for alternative. I may use Delta skymarket to use miles to make hotel reservations as i have over 1m Delta miles

I found that last week myself. Delta isn't listed as allowing transfers out of the program. Which is a shame because I've got points piled up on Delta that I don't foresee using.

If you have a Delta Amex card, you can get American Express $100 gift cards for 11,000 skymiles each. Considering you have over 1 million skymiles, that' s amost $10,000 in gift cards.

What is your ultimate goal for xfering to a hotel program, just free nights? Would it be local hotels? My assumption is that if you want hotel points, you would still be traveling so why not use the miles for airfare and pay for the hotel? Is it that you fly so much that you can't use up your miles fast enough?

Booking hotels using miles gives a horrible redemption rate. I think AMEX gift cards are your best value. $10k is a lot of money... OR you could buy two sets of some sweet binoculars for around a million points using the marketplace.

I was thinking along the same lines. Without input from the OP, my assumption is that they fly a LOT with delta. So much so that they can't spend the miles as fast as they accumulate. Depending on routing it might make sense to switch loyalty programs.

I know we're talking about Skymiles here...but still ~$0.009/mile is a pretty poor redemption value.

You are right on the value. But if you're Gold or above you get double miles making them worth 0.018 or almost 2 cents.

Only hilton makes it easy to transfer miles into points. (only for aa)

Do you have certain chase cards like Sapphire Preferred. Your points will transfer into Marrott.

Otherwise normally there are not many ways to transfer into Marriott. (That I know of anyway)

Delta points aren't that hard to redeem if you know what you're doing- also there are areas where SkyTeam miles may be the best for the job- Africa/Indian Ocean/Australia come to mind- and .9 cents per mile is hardly a great transfer rate.
