I nominate this as the most useless post of the week.

C'mon man, do you really need advice on how to swipe your card 5 times? Do you not need you buy anything at all? Do you never go to the supermarket?

Do the 5 swipes really need to be under a total of $.10?

If you're really going to push the limit like this, I'd select a store where you won't mind getting banned from future visits.

FYI, I bought multiple restaurant.com certificates to qualify for minimum transactions in the past.

Well I never thought of taking apart parsley and trying to buy only one leaf. This post may have saved me $0.69 cents every couple months when I cook something that requires small volumes of herbs.

Another thought is just to buy something returnable. Pick up some stuff at Costco, Target, Walmart, Nordstrom, etc and just return it next month.

sam....if you don't buy groceries, use the card when you eat out or buy some for whomever is feeding you...

ps...is there a date by which you have to do the buys?....why do you want to cancel the card?....some have said to wait til close to the next fee because doing it early may have a bad effect on your credit rating....

I see this thread being pointless too...

If it was to reach a certain spending limit then it's a whole new ballgame. It's not that hard to reach five transactions of any amount... I would just go to a few different convenience stores and buy one of those individually wrapped gums or chocolate bars for $.05.

You're amazing.

For the more normal people out there, a great solution for this kind of thing that you can do in 5 minutes from the comfort of your home is to buy xx number of $1 Amazon GCs emailed to yourself. Just add to your account.

GO to the local gas station and prepay .01 at 5 diff pumps. 5 cents later, you're all set.

Two posters have suggested multiple charges at the gas pump: potentially VERY BAD IDEA (depending on the card). Both Citi and Chase reps have told me that fraud alerts are triggered by multiple gas station charges in the same day.

Agreed. I wouldn't do it on the same day. A 3rd attempt to a gas station in a short span triggers an alert.

Can you use multiple AMZN gift certificates on one purchase?

Never thought of this but it is a great idea. I normally pay Comcast or AT&T in smallish amount multiple times, or buy that banana one at a time at grocery store...

I do need to do 2 x 10 Non-PIN debit card transactions on 2 Chase bank accounts which were opened for bonus miles but then I realize they actually carry some valuable bennies so I am going to keep them but NOT to put $25K in them to avoid monthly fee! So the 2 x 5 debit card Non PIN transactions become monthly routine.
