I just applied for the Amex platinum a few days ago with an original promotion bonus of 50k MR points. However, when I recieved my card today I politely called the MR dept. and asked if they would be able to honor a promotional bonus of 100k. The CSR obliged and made a notation on the account reflecting a total of 100k MR for the card. Terms were $1000 spent in the first three months. I will spend the money and let you know how it works out!

all you guys need for this is to know the 4 digit promo number. Once you have that before activating card, speak with customer rep and ask them to check with Rewards department. Tell them you got offer in the mail but lost it and only wrote down the 4 digit promo.
Used this tactic 3 times for 2 personal gold cards at 75K and one business gold for another 75K.
My concern is .... every time I saw an app for the Platinum card I always saw an unwaived 400+ dollar fee.

Plus 600 Priority Pass Lounges and a $200 Designated Airline refund adjustment for changes, baggage etc.
The Priority Pass was a lifesaver for me last month when I was stranded at the gates in Vegas for 7 hours due to DFW closure. No Admirals Club but I was quite comfortable in the Presidents Club. Also used it in Nassau at the new US Departure Terminal where you also get $20 of Food and Beverage.
There is lengthy and active discussion going on right now about how to get those 100K points in Amex MR thread (sorry, too lazy to link, but yes, it has worked for many, including me).
Is there a current link to sign up for the 50,000 MR points Platinum Amex charge card? I thought it was gone and down to 25,000 now?
I would only take the plunge to bump the bonus, if I knew I was for sure getting 50,000.
