HA Miles ... or HH Points?
I have about 100,000 HA miles right now sitting around. I dont have any plans to go to Hawaii in the next year or two.
Aside from the 100k HA miles, I've got miles with AA, BA, CO, UA in various amount.
On the hotel front, I have points only with Hyatt & Choice right now. So while I have enough miles to get me anywhere in style, I wont have a nice comfy room to sleep in.
100k HA miles can convert to 200k HH points. Or about 4-5 nights in an upper level hotel.
Without any specific travel plans in mind, whats more generally more valuable? I can keep my HA points alive by using their silly rewards toolbar and doing a few searches each month, thus extending the expiry date. Or, is it better to move them over to Hilton so they can be ready for an award booking when I decide?

How did you earn these miles? HA restricts outbound transfers of miles which were not earned by flying. For example, miles transferred to HA from American Express Membership Rewards cannot be re-transferred to HH, but I don't know if this rule applies to miles earned using (for example) HA's own credit card.

I was kinda excited about hearing about the HH option as flight redemptions options don't look too good.

Hilton HHonors Transfer Requests:
Please allow 10-15 business days for processing. The name on the Hilton HHonors account must match that of the HawaiianMiles account. Miles are sent in increments of 5,000 miles and will create 10,000 Hilton HHonors points. Per the terms and conditions, third-party loyalty program mileage transfers are not allowed.
I have only transferred miles used through HA flights but I can't imagine there would be a problem transferring miles from the HA BoA CC.
The MR points are problematic. One thing I've wondered concerning MR points was whether they would recognize it if you transferred the points to another HA account and had that person transfer to HH. Pure speculation, but I've thought it possible that once points transferred to another HA account might no longer show up as third-party transfer points.

Points transferred into HawaiianMiles accounts may not be transferred to a third party loyalty program.

I just spoke with HA Customer Service, who confirmed that any miles transferred from AMEX MR to HA could not then be moved to HH. But I asked her if HA "knows" what miles have come from my AMEX... she didnt have an answer (or wouldnt tell me if she did). I guess I can either do the 75k HA to 150k HH, or try to move the full amount and see what happens, I'm guessing the worst they can do is deny the transfer.

An overwater bungalow in Bora Bora is at the top of my wife and I's current wish list. I have plenty of miles to get us there in J but I need hotel points. I was thinking of applying for the HA BOA card and having my wife apply as well but I have a question. Can we pool the miles into one HH account? I have never transferred airline miles to hotel points before. That would be an easy 200k and that would only leave me about 80k short of an 8 day stay. Kick in a 50k Amex Hilton and some spending and off we go...
