Paying for destination wedding using miles?
I've seen threads on how to maximize mileage/point earning when planning a wedding, but does anyone have any thoughts on how I can use my existing miles and points to help pay for my wedding? I am planning a destination wedding in the Caribbean and would like to see if I could use my existing miles and points to help pay for the actual cermony, catering and wedding events (not the actual travel). Any ideas?
We haven't decided on an island, but would certainly choose an island where we could use our miles/points.

While in general this is a very interesting question (of almost philosophical quality, if I may add this), you will get a specific answer only if you go to the sub-forum of your specific Frequent Flyer Program.
Having said this, I would strongly recommend that you use your miles for travel and not for the wedding because the value of what you get for your miles is typically very bad if you do not use your miles for travel.
In any case, I wish you a great wedding.

I agree, the value of my miles/points is poor when looking at non-travel redemption, but I figure I can always generate more miles and points.
Although it would be easier to post in a specific program's forum, I have miles and points across many programs including AA, continental/united, Membership Rewards, Delta, Priority Club, Wyndham, USair, etc.
Specific strategies are always appreciated!

perhaps a lot of work is involved....look at each of your sources, make a table/spreadsheet of what can be had from each, pick out a destination that has a suitable hotel that can be booked w/ what you have....
good luck..
edit to add....have you selected an island, hotel chain, cruise line or anything?
