Hawaiian Miles

Recieved this offer. have 3 very old cards (MileagePlus, Frontier, Credit Union Visa), and just applied for the BA 100,000 mile card. Credit score ~820 We go to Hawaii (from Colorado) at least once a year. After reading a lot on these forums, just wondering if you all think this is worthwhile?

Visa Signature card
Qualify for up to 35,000 bonus HawaiianMiles, after qualifying purchases
Receive a one-time 25% round-trip travel discount between the Mainland US and Hawaii for both you and a companion
Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on tickets purchased directly from Hawaiian Airlines and on in-flight purchases
Earn 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases
Earn up to 5 XtraMiles per $1 spent when you use your Hawaiian Airlines Visa card to make a purchase at any participating XtraMiles Partner Learn More>>
Earn 2,000 Bonus HawaiianMiles on your account anniversary date - our way of saying Mahalo.

Unfortunately I have not yet been able to fine the "qualifying purchases", so if anyone knows what that is. I would appreciate hearing it!

Happy Travels,

Larry

From Hawaiian's website:

Visa Signature cardholders will receive 20,000 Bonus HawaiianMiles after first purchase and 2,000 anniversary bonus miles each year when their account is renewed. Visa Signature cardholders will also receive an additional 15,000 Bonus HawaiianMiles after making $1,000 in net purchases that post to the account within four months (120 days) of the account open date. Platinum cardholders will receive 10,000 HawaiianMiles after first purchase and 1,000 anniversary bonus miles each year when the account is renewed. All miles earned with the card are awarded to the HawaiianMiles account of the primary cardholder. Please allow approximately four to six weeks for miles to be credited after qualifying.

Only you can decide if the card is worth it to you. Do you want to have another credit card? Do you want to have a card with a $79 annual fee? If you don't have any other card earning miles/points/cash back, then I would definitely recommend getting one that works best for you. I have had the Hawaiian card for 9 years now but will be cancelling this year before my fee hits my account because I prefer a different card now as my needs have changed. Do you fly Delta or Continental often? They are partners with Hawaiian so maybe it makes more sense to get one of their cards. Hard to say without knowing all your details/interests.

HA does not seem to have good partners, unless you are going to HI, I doubt these miles are useful.

My experience with Hawaiian Airlines has been disappointing. Flew alot on HA for a while. Stopped flying to Hawaii for a bit...long enough for HA to cancel all miles in account with NO warning. Reinstatement fee quoted rediculious.

My best advice, as I also live in Colorado is have your wife and you both apply for the CO 50,000 offer. You will both get 50,000 miles, which can be moved to United and use 40,000 each for 2 free flights to Hawaii.

http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...x?&offer=OPP50

You can get the HA offer later. the CO offer ends next month
