You said you want the rewards to be flexible, but you mention lots of travel related rewards.
I'm going to agree with what most are saying that you should consider the SPG AMEX. Here is why:
- Points (if used properly) can be significantly more valuable then cash based rewards. Trips to Asia scream out to me as a valuable use of points
- Redeem for stays at SPG hotels using points outright or Cash & Points for value
- Transfer at a rate 1.25x to many airline miles programs for expensive coach/business/first fares
- If you find cheap airfare you can redeem your points directly for the flights based on the cash value (values *wood points at over $.01 per point). This is, IMO the least valuable use of points, but still more valuable then what you have now).
There you have it... Lots of value options and flexibility for various travel related rewards. If you want it to allow non travel rewards, you should look at the Capital One venture card.
