[Consolidated] Mastercard offers

I'm all set on Visa and AMEX, but the MasterCard I currently carry gets me useless benefits. I figure I should cancel it and get one that earns me miles or points that can be moved to airline FF programs. Any suggestions on the best one that has widely applicable miles or the most generous airline branded offer? Thanks.

I'd probably go with the Continental Mastercard- 50,000 point signup bonus after first purchase, waived fee for the first year and some more benefits. Overall, pretty solid.

Ditto, but couple it with the United VISA to doubletap on Continental miles.

Achieve required spend by the 19 pounders.

Already have the United Visa, I worry if I get the CO MC they will just axe it and retain the United Visa in the near future anyway.

If its 6 months since you applied for the UA, get the CO...it'll probably be the last chance you get.

Very much a 'chance'! Approval for a Chase card is quite exceptional nowadays. I wish I was lucky enough! I'll try again if I get a job before they discontinue.

What do you mean by exceptional? Is it easy or difficult to get approved by Chase?

My experience a year ago was a nightmare. Despite an excellent credit score, they didn't give me an instant decision. They asked me to mail in a crazy amount of documentation, but in the end they approved me.

it seemed pretty easy for me to apply to chase, and I just applied for two cards in the last two months. However, I hadn't opened a card with them in a long time...2 or 3 years. At least for me, and from stories i heard on the forums...even if they turn you down, they are willing to let you split your credit line from a different card to open a new account (that's how i got my united card one month after my continental)...

From stories, i've read here though, be careful not to just cancel your chase cards right away, and spend a little bit on them now and then (sounds like you plan to do that anyway).

Any Mastercard CC offering good bonus points?

Everything I've signed up for in the last 6 months has either been an AMEX or a Visa. The ones I'm eyeing at the moment are the same (Chase Priority Club Visa, AMEX HHonors, and Citi AA Business Visa).

Aside from the CO card (which I've already had for 5 years), where are all of the good (50K+) point bonuses from Mastercard? I just don't see'em around. Based on history (and mine on these forums is pretty short), are there any MC bonuses I should be waiting on?

To me, it's about the bonus not the cards. But on a side note, it doesn't matter which type of card you apply for Visa, AMEX, MC etc. It's the card issuer (chase, Citi, Amex, etc) that decides when you've applied too much.

Why do you care whether it's an MC or a Visa? Where are you planning to use the card enough to get the bonus that doesn't accept Visa but does accept MC?

(I can understand the lower acceptance of Amex possibly being an issue, but Visa vs MC???)

In my opinion, it's always good to diversify. If Visa somehow shuts down (and you never know what financial meltdowns could occur), it's always good to have a set of fallback options. This is why I care.

The difference that I see between my World Mastercards and my Visas is that my MC's do not report my Credit Limits to the credit bureaus and my Visas do. I can't comment on whether this is a good or bad thing, but the fact there is a difference in how they are reported should be noted.

By the lack of responses, I'll take it that aside form the CO card, there aren't any good mileage bonuses tied to Mastercards right now anyway.
