I called about gas for your car--especially if you are like, headed TO the airport for a trip or something, and airport parking twice. Got a friendly but definitive NO on both occasions.
Figured I would see some off chance situation in this here fine thread where it does work if someone does X Y and Z or something.
I have not seen that so I guess it don't work. As said I have since zero'd the balances on the cards in terms of what I owe by paying cash or using C1 miles, and begun ordering mega coins on all of them to get new miles on top of all those remaining from my initial 333k in earnings. (well, we know the coins are on back order but you know what I mean)

Good to know, thanks.

yah aint gonna cut it though. I was hoping to BUY gas and somehow get it to be a mile-able purchase, not just redeem for it. ah well

If you are looking to maximise benefits, then why don't you book flights using the Cap1 priceline link. You get 6 pt/dollar and the miles from the flight.

I recently had a $72 charge at Austin Fast Park,
called in and they immediately credited it,
and deducted the 7200 points as we spoke. ^

What I have been doing is using an Expedia.com charge I made for a hotel, and partially reimbursing myself for any roadtrips I have done since and that are not in any way related to that charge. I just sum up my gas and other road trip costs (charged to my Cap1) and use the Expedia.com charge to reimburse myself. I never get exactly the right reimbursement amount, but I can get it pretty close. Somehow the 3 bookings ($293, $183, and $56) I have made through Expedia and Hotels.com (all lodging) are being treated as if they are airline ticket purchases (yes even the $56 charge), thus allowing me to do partial redemptions, by multiples of 10. Technically speaking, you can buy just about anything and reimburse yourself using one of your travel related charges. Only thing is you gotta have at least one travel related charge every 90 days in order to be able to this all the time. Unless Cap1 somehow fixes this loophole, I will continue to get a .01/pt redemption rate for everything I buy with my Cap1 card. Unlike most people around here, I will keep my card beyond the 1st year.

101%. I bought some merchandise@eBay and was easily able to pass it off as travel related. Just call them, they are real easy to work with.

Im just interested in using the card to pay for travel that is not starwoodable or airlineable where I have miles already. If I have airline miles on say, AA, I will use them. Of course if I did pay for a ticket like for $200 then yeah I might go that rout but yeah. Most of my C1 stuff will be other travel related.

hmmm I suppose one COULD almost get expedia GCs or something and somehow use them to pay for things? Either way, what you are saying may be a viable way of doing things! Cool!

Not a bad idea, although charging gas to CapOne and then getting that reimbursed would probably be easier - wouldn't be limited to only Shell stations.

Just got home from my road trip, so I'm going to try this as soon as my return trip gasoline purchases show up.

I've been doing this too. The CapOne card is now my go-to card for all just about all purchases, so this comes in mighty handy. I'm like you - I'll keep this card past it's renewal date. BTW, while you're getting a .01/pt redemption rate, you're getting a .02 rate on every dollar spent.

Raffles Certs Shipped

Just got notice that my Raffles certs have shipped, via Standard Drop Ship. 4 pieces of paper with a potential value of over $3000 sent in plain white envelopes. Nice.

Other banks do this all the time. Citi sent me 6 x $100 Marriott TCs in same fashion and the cards are far more detectable than your thin paper in a plain envelope.

I also received notification of shipment this afternoon --- but I'm confused about the valuation you've ascribed to them. I thought that each cert was for one night in a Cat. C Suite w/breakfast. Have I misunderstood what the certs are (i.e. at what locations might they be worth >$750 each)? TIA!

I got 3 day park hoppers for 4 people covered by C1. Just give them a call, be friendly, explain it's the reason for your trip, and hopefully it will work for you, too.

Marathon Man May 27, 2011 6:52 pm

due to the help of people in this thread, I got things done.

I called to add my wife on the biz card and got the bonus

I called in to tell them airport parking SHOULD count... I had paid $45 on this card and ended up just using 9k points because I thought it would not let me spend just 4500, but CS told me they would credit me.

and due to my own crazed ways, I have ordered coins with my card:

05/26/2011 OFC DOLLAR COIN
$6,750.00
Earn
13,500 Miles

05/26/2011
Adjust
4,500 Miles

05/24/2011 Authorized User Bonus
SpecialEarn2
5,000 Miles

I have other cards to order coins with and when I pay these off ASAP I will do it again and again!

I'm not saying it's actually worth that much to me, but that's the Fairmont BAR for the dates I'm in Maui. Fairmont Kea Lani, Wailea. Rates dropped, so now 4 nights in July are less than $3000 @ $2937 including taxes. I never checked out any other of the Cat. C properties. What's important with these is that there are no blackout dates. So you can use them in high season. These would be far, far less valuable at the same property after the summer, where rates can drop into the $200's/night. Now which the Cat. C Suite books into, Partial or Full Ocean View, the agent wasn't sure. Ocean View is $3527. I'm sure there are other ways to cut that rate/get upgrades, but the easy route (Friends & Family rate) to that is gone. I'm probably going to stick with my 48K rate with SPG since these certs don't expire and are fully transferable.
Raffles site lists their upcoming Maldives property at a Cat. C, but I doubt that will be the case when it's (finally) finished.
