Unfortunately, for many years I clung to some old credit cards that aren't really worth that much in rewards... It's only recently that I discovered the value of travel-related cards (especially after discovering FT)....
Here's what I've got:
I obtained all the cards that aren't marked "new" in the 1990's. Other than buying cars and houses, haven't touched my credit since I got the HHonors AMEX. Considering cancelling the GM Mastercard for something else... anyone got any suggestions on other cards to look into?
Guess I should further state that from my preferred home airport, CHA, I can fly DL, AA, and US. The rest of them don't fly here.
Here's what I've got:
- DL Platinum AMEX (New 12/2010)
- AAdvantage Platinum VISA (New 01/2011)
- GM Platinum Mastercard (on the Old program with no caps, if you're familiar with it)
- HHonors AMEX
- Discover Platinum
- Credit Union Platinum VISA (low interest rate/merchandise points)

First, I would say don't cancel your mastercard. If you've had that card for 10+ years it will help keep the average age of your accounts higher which is good for your credit score. The card isn't hurting you at all by keeping it.
A card to apply for right now would be the Continental Mastercard. There is a 50k bonus right now and there is a large thread somewhere around here about it. CO doesn't fly to your home airport, but you can redeem their miles for travel on US.

I also have two "Store Cards"... a Home Depot card I applied for about 7 years ago when I had to replace the roof on my old house, and a GE Money Bank/Rooms To Go card, I currently carry a balance on (Zero percent interest until 2014 was hard to resist). I haven't used the Home Depot card since I paid off the roof (that was also a zero interest deal for a certain length of time) about six years ago. Should I consider dropping it, or since it has some "age" should I keep that open?
BTW - In case you can't tell, I recently pulled my credit report to see what's still open and what's on my report.
