why does chase?
reject you for applying and getting too many cards in a certain period of time....
and then flood your snail mail with credit card offers for "chase sapphire free roundtrip flight to start" and "marriott rewards free nights chase card"
i think it's stupid, a waste of money, and makes potential future customers angry...
can't their credit approval department talk to their marketing department to save the accounting department some cash for their shareholders?

CC offers are a marketing tool, a form of advertisement.
CC only goes out to people with an approved line of credit..
Rejection is a business decision, do not take it personal.

Call 888-245-0625 after App
Tonight I got the SWA 16/500 personal card by calling about the app I put in last night that said I'd get an answer in writing in 15 days. They closed an old Sony card I had and moved a little credit from the UA card. I had just gotten the Marriott 50K and the CO 30+$50 in the past two months. (The same # upped that to match the new 50K last Friday). I now have the UA, CO, Marriott, and SWA personals. Chase has always told me they encourage a "full compliment" of their various cards. I try to space them a couple months apart.
I've heard of this number reconsidering a rejected app by moving credit lines also.
"Lateral churning" or rotating cards works better with Chase since they have so many, while Citi is tied to AA and AmEx to Delta.
My absolute worst experiences have been with BofA where I've maintained a $10K checking balance for 20 years and have their house cc. They email me offers every couple weeks for Alaska and Hawaiian cards and reject me every time I apply.
OTOH Chase biz declined the biz SWA card because I had opened so many personal cards with them recently. Even tho I have a valid biz and it's never had a Chase biz card. They told me to wait 60 days for a "breather".
