Worth starting from scratch?

I have (and have renewed until 2014!) my *LH silver, but have come to realise that I will pretty much never reach the gold status on there as I don't travel enough within a calendar year! Most of my flights are on AC, but a few on United and Continental.

I have looked on here and saw that the Agean is the best/fastest way to get * Gold status but before I book my next flight with my new Agean FF, can anyone tell me 1) if i can still claim my baggage allowance without having to change the FF number on the booking 2) does Agean calculate miles the same way as other *A members? 3) is it really worth it starting from scratch, is there another way of accumulating status miles within Miles and More?

Preface; I have few journeys to make next year (LGA-LHR), (LHR-YOW-YXE), (LHR-YOW) and (LHR-YYZ-DCA-LHR) with the possibility of another (LHR-WAS-MEX)

Welcome to FT!
Aegean looks good at first, but if you look at the way they credit low booking classes, in many cases it's 1/2 of the miles you'd get with UA, CO or AC. Check those booking classes.

I'd say go with United/CO as they're in the process of merging and you'll be able to get E+ where the have it (for now). What's your goal...lounges, checked bags free, award travel, upgrades?

Cheers johndeere19,

Lounges and upgrades really, I tend to travel for work overseas and would like to be able to get some work done and relax before my long hauls.
