Seat location
I have used a combination of buying a seat with leg room being 6' 5" and then buying upgrades or being upgraded as a Continental Platinum elite memebr ( first time as Platinum elite mainly on credit card miles). I tried to book to Asia and was told extra leg room seat are not released until 24 hours before take off. This is new to me. It is some thing that Continental has just started due to merger or did I get a bad agent on the phone?

Welcome to FT!
I don't have the answer to your question since I don't often fly CO, but as you spend more time here you'll see how FT is organized in forums for different topics. With 300,000 members, over a million threads and over 15 million total posts, that's the only way to avoid chaos. One of those forums is for CO. That's where the people who can answer your question hang out. In fact, it may have already been asked and answered there; the Search This Forum feature, while not perfect, is often useful.
I've asked a moderator to move this thread to that forum.
If you end up going to Asia, enjoy your trip!
