Buying Gift Cards for CC Points
I was wondering if anyone has tried buying giftcards online for credit card points? A lot of sites offer giftcards for a discounted price, and then you could theoretically resell them for that same price or even a slight mark up. For example, buy a gift card for 15% off on plasticjungle.com and then resell it on eBay or craigslist for 10% off (you would lose slightly on eBay fees). Or it could be vice versa: buy on ebay for 25% off and sell to a giftcard site for 75% of the value. Does anyone know if gift cards are charged as cash advances and does this sound like a plausible way to earn points even if there is some hassle involved?

A hassle, Just go to the grocery store or Walgreens and buy gift cards you will use off the rack. They even sell them for Ebay. If you are using the Hilton Amex, you get your 6 points per Dollar, since it is a grocery or drug store.
