Miles for Domain Name Registrations

I have a domain name coming up for renewal. I know Network Solutions has had a deal with American in the past. Are there any other deals out there, ideally with a different domain name registrar?

Most registrars have extremely low margins on domain (i.e. less than a dollar) so I am not sure if domain names are the best way to earn miles. Unless it's like 3 miles for each registration and you own a whole lot of domains to renew

Edit: Unless you mean the other way? i.e. pay miles for registration?

True. However, the miles deals that I've seen with Network Solutions include charging somewhere near $30/year for domain registration, which is much more than a domain registration typically costs. Surely Network Solutions is simply passing the cost of the miles on to the customer. That's the only way it would be profitable for Network Solutions.

I wasn't thinking of it as a major source of miles. It's more along the lines of something I am already buying and trying to find a way to squeeze a few extra miles out of it.

Don't know of any others, but in case somebody is searching and finds this, for Network Solutions:

The earn miles on Network Solutions page

http://www.networksolutions.com/affi...ct-unknown.jsp

I would of course double check to see if the programs are still valid before clicking away.

They say for American, Delta, Northwest, United, US Air

At an old job they used Network Solutions, I ran everything through for miles, like 50 domains. It's one of the things I miss most from not being there now. And unless you need to use Network Solutions, there are significantly less expensive ways to do this.

Talking Very "And Now for Something Completely Different" Threadworthy

Domain registration for miles ranks up there with bowling for miles and the rest of the more...ummm...exotic mileage opportunities.

Is 1000 miles really worth the $51 they're overcharging you for that three year registration? I pay $11.99/yr at my registrar (godaddy).

11.99/year? You're being overcharged. One can probably get a domain registration for ~$8 a year.

I have about 500 registered names at work, and we pay $7.87 annually per .com at GoDaddy. With 500 renewals every year it would be nice to earn miles.
