Staying with friend in Chicago. Used UA E Fare @$229 for last minute convention plans. Hoping to standby for 1005A flt on 01MAY. That seems full generally on Saturdays, especially with the weather (supposedly) getting warmer. Anyone going to be in SAN or ORD rcc then?

I hope I get to try one of the new United First Suites from London.

If anyone wants to hook up in Riyadh for drinks when I'm there...nah, better not. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Looks like I'll be doing an Asia to US trip on 21 May:

NRT-SFO, UA 838 (lv 1730, arr 1035), then
SFO-ORD, UA 148 (lv 1225, arr 1818)

Will hang out in NRT Red Carpet Club from about 1500 until flight time, and in the upstairs RCC in SFO between flights. Also probably drop in the RCC on "B" concourse in ORD for a quick stop to make a few calls.

Anyone else going to be in the vicinity? If we had the magic luggage tags, we could spot each other easily - hint, hint http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Rudi May 3, 1999 4:09 am

Counsellor: may be that we meet at the upstairs RCC (outside security) at the SFO RCC on Friday, may-21, 1035-1225. I will show my "Neue Zuercher Zeitung" as always - and you may have a look at my photo(s) before (15 years older now than the photo with Gisela in our Swiss-Appenzell-costums, but actual photos with Matt in San Juan PR) at members.aol.com/flyerpics/wanted.htm

we might discuss Voelkerrecht/-unrecht, Napa valley wines, the latest good books you just read, etc.. Spazierengehen may be not that funny at SFO and I am not that good at solving logic puzzles as lawyers are ... (from your post at "who we all are").

Lots of folks going to be in DC area.
A mini-gathering??? Send me an e-mail if one is planned.

It looks like I have to make a side trip to Tel Aviv after Riyadh. Obviously there are no direct flights. I'm assuming that the best connection is through Cairo. But if anyone has any better tips I'd appreciate it.

I'd prefer to fly to Taba, spend a day or two scuba diving, cross the border to Israel, rent a car and drive up to Tel Aviv, but I may not have time for such fun.

For Prague, you have the Intercontinental for a nice business hotel. Or the U Tri Postru (the 3 ostriches) for a wonderful old hotel in an excellent location at the end of the Charles Bridge.

Efrem May 4, 1999 11:12 am

Matt: Also two blocks (or less; turn left as you leave the hotel, on the same side of the street) from the Kensington Hilton is Roberson's wine store - one of the best in London, if not the world. For my money, it's more fun than the Safeway.

And, if you want to recover from the pub crawl, check out their treadmill and exercise bike with the computer-driven displays. You race against a competitor who adapts to your speed and always passes you, but by a small enough margin that you can pass him with a little more effort, after which he will pass you again ... truly diabolical!
