Best Airlines Loyalty Programs - Vote now! (Mega Awards)

The Mega Awards being held in Montreal next week will honor the best airline loyalty programs, and the voting is now open for the "People's Choice" category.

So I'd invite you to vote now here: http://www.airlineinformation.org/AI...ards_live.html

The awards will be presented by Freddie Laker Jr. himself!

How many of you Flyertalkers coming to Montreal?

I'm guessing... none of us.

How did you arrive at the list of nominees for these awards, which represent a small (and hardly most prominent or obvious) subset of the possibilities? Are they clients of your consultancy?

I've never heard of the "Mega Awards," and I try to keep up.

I've never heard of Freddie Laker, Jr. either. (OK, I just searched and found out he named the Freddie Awards after himself.)

Try another search. Randy Petersen named the Freddies after Sir Freddie Laker, the senior, who pioneered low-cost TATL service with Laker Airways' Skytrain (very big among college students of my generation, late '70s) and who died in 2006.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie_Laker

I don't know what his (apparent) son does or is up to, but the name should open some doors.

When is someone going to go a poll for the worst airline loyalty program? That would be a close race between DL and US.

The airlines in the list have self-nominated themselves in the past months by applying on the Airline Information website.

The Mega Awards are indeed new, and they come together with the Mega Event, which is an established Airline Information conference about FFP and other topics.

Very unfortunately the Freddie Awards were discontinued by Randy Petersen, as he stated here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/only-...ie-awards.html

Thanks saad!

And good point about a poll for the worst. That would be the missing part of the People's Choice!

Welcome from me also. At this point there would be many more contenders for worst program than best. You could also have sub-categories for:

** Steepest decline
** Most difficult redemption
** Most meaningless elite tiers

I doubt your airline clients would like it very much but you'd get more press this way. Skytrax, Conde Nast Traveler and the former Freddies are already so prominent in this arena, it's hard to see what value another similar award program brings. A negative one, however, makes you the Razzies vs. the Oscars: guaranteed press.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.
We have a high consideration of this community and will definitely treasure its advice for next year's awards.

As of this year's awards, the poll will go on until tomorrow; feel free to vote.
