Aer Linguis
We are taking our first trip to Ireland nonstop from Chicago to Dublin. Does anyone know what alliance they belong to? I can't seem to find it anywhere and I don't want to miss out of all those miles. Thanks for your help - I would be considered a newbie here I am sure.

Info is on their website. A good start might be the correct spelling of their name http://www.aerlingus.com/
Unless you are talking about the little known Italian Low Cost Carrier, Aereo Linguini

Even though they aren't part of any alliance, they do have frequent flyer agreements with the following airlines:
Code:
EI. / AA. AY. BA. CX. DI. EI. IB. LA. LP. QF. RE. RJ. XL. 4M.
American Airlines
Finnair
British Airways
Cathay Pacific
DBA (defunct, now part of Air Berlin)
Aer Lingus
Iberia
Lan Airlines
Lan Peru
Qantas
Aer Arann
Royal Jordanian
Lan Ecuador
Lan Argentina
I'd suggest signing up for American Airlines' mileage program and using your AA number for these EI tickets.

You no longer earn AA miles on Aer Lingus flights - that agreement stopped sometime ago.
This is the full list of AA partners:
