he's smart

I think he has figured a way to make a few miles...maybe not as many as he bragged. I think he is smart for not publically telling his methods, as these boards have become one step up from slickdeals.
Too many morons wanting to slam any posted deal, brag publicly about how many coins they bought and which credit cards they used, (and then I get blasted for telling them thats wrong), and turn any deal that requires finesse into a free for all grabfest until deal is gone.
It's nice to know you can find ways by READING instead of being spoonfed a deal and acting with the self control of a 6 year old, killing the deal soon after.
Keep it up OP and dont tell the Donks anything, the less they know the better it is for us that have the ability to keep a secret and use finesse to keep a deal going for a long time...if any PM you and ask your methods just point them to the thread titiles you use and let them start searching and reading....if they are too dumb to do that, then they don't deserve a deal!!

I will PM you and give you another way to boost your points that I wouldnt dare tell anyone on these boards publicly, because they would kill it with their lack of self control and public bragging.

With all due respect, I disagree with most of what you said, but I totally respect your right to have your opinion.

Funny to put those two words in the same sentence. Also I wouldn't go around calling others "morons" when spelling publicly like such. Pot meet kettle.

ewwww... typo

when you type 180 words a minute you sometimes misspell some things. How big of you to point it out. Read some of the posting in the coins thread and tell me how many rocket scientist you see posting....I believe some would call the mint or their bank to ask for help working the deal.
Sorry, but my opinion of FT has changed. I still think it is full of good info and mostly intelligent (and overly uptight PC) people. But lately I have seen too many instances of people that are too lazy to read or search for answers (even if they are on the same page in the thread) and some that are too stupid to keep their mouth shut (like bragging which cards they use and how many coins a month they get with them)...just daring the CC companies to shut the deal down. When I point out it says in the sticky only to mention the cards it's not working for, I'm chastised by the moderator and told people are free to discuss what they like.
I like the OP idea that ways are out there, if you do some research and reading, to earn a good amount. He also refuses to spoonfeed those ways to the people unwilling to take the time to read and look for them. I feel that people who put in the effort to find the deals are less likely to blab them all over, abuse them, and put them in jeopardy.
I like/hate slickdeals.net for the same reason. They have a rule rule#1 never, never call about the deal. this usually ruins the deal. Some people dont get it and call the stores anyway.
they also have something called the SD effect where when a great deal like a free 8X10 at wallgreens hits the boards, then becomes a popular topic, and hundreds and then thousands of people jump on the deal that day, (many bragging about ordering fifty or a hundred free photos). so many people get greedy they blow out the deal and it is taken down before the end of the promotion. People there are in it for the quick deal and as long as they get theirs they don't care if the deal lasts.
I think FT people are in it for the long run as collecting miles is not a fast one time deal, but it is getting that way. Look at the posts in the 75k AA credit card, greedy people wanting 3 cards, cant wait till their points post (even if they dont need to use them), and wondering how long they have to wait until they can cancel the card. SD mentality all the way.

And now for the disclaimer for the uptight politically correct people: The preceding is MY opinion, it does not have to be your opinion, I am still entitled to voice it. I used the offensive terms "lazy" and "stupid" in generalizations and did not direct my names at any individuals real or fictional, dead or alive. Some of the words may be mispelled, I apologize for my lack of spellcheck feature.

Re: wise2u

I think most of us, or at least myself, could care less about any suggestions coming from a person who lugged $900 in coins to Tunica and then tried to dump them off at two different casinos after telling a supervisor to "suck it". First off classy, second off great way to gain 900 miles....... Ironic you come on here calling people stupid.

I would like to remind you that deals like the US Mint that you use were posted and shared by other members. If you have deals and do not want to share them, simply just do not post about them. The US Mint deal has gone on for a while now and has survived even though people have posted all the details on here and in newspapers. You have an opinion of people that are greedy that churn credit cards, yet some would have an opinion of anyone buying coins from the mint and having them shipped free of charge not only greedy but even more not very environmentally friendly.

First, Yes i took $900 in coins and circulated them in tunica...It was money I was planning on spending anyway not a special trip to get 900 miles, would you have just withdrawn cash from your bank and wasted a milage bonus? second I didnt actually say "suck it, or bite me" when told to unwrap them and run them through a coinstar machine, i actually said "fine, i will take my $400 of coins to the casino next door and see if they want them" I anticipated some level of YMMV on getting coins cashed at the cashier. the first place took $500 without unrolling them, the second wanted me to unroll and use coinstar, the third unrolled them and used their counter and gave me my money after a very short wait. At least I circulated 900 during my trip.

Second: I do not have a opinion that card churners are greedy, since any viable regular churning has been over for a while, I dont care. I also do not care if people use the loopholes to get as many miles as they can WITHOUT drawing undue attention to the fact. I realize that the mint program has been advertised in other places and have read about 250 pages of the FT thread. If you start from the beginning the basics are plainly told but the exploitive tricks are only hinted at and were passed by PM and not made public for fear of ruining the angle. The program has not survived untouched by the publicity and the $1k every 10 days rule that they have implemented is proof of that. The sour opinion I have is of the people who have no restraint in bragging publicly about abusing the system and posting step by step instructions on how its done. Like the current frugalguy blog post, which if read by the mint will no doubt lead to further restrictions. We all know how the deal works, why do some people brag about how many coins they bought and which card they used, do they want that card company to notice? Lately many posters dont want to do any work to figure out a deal, they want it laid out on a silver platter (steps 1,2,3 repeat until deal dies) and then when it works they brag and repost it everywhere they can, they dont understand lack of discretion kills the deal. This is the SD attitude and why when coins were mentioned on SD some FT people quickly posted that it was hard to do and might get cards cancelled, which discouraged the thread from becoming popular, and thankfully it was mostly ignored. It is my opinion a deal should be quietly milked for as long as possible by people with discretion, not beat to death by people who just want a quick deal.
It's like the old story: An old bull and a young one were sitting on a hill looking at a herd of cows, the young one says "i'm goin to run down there, kick up a cloud of dust, scatter that herd, and get me one of those cows!!"
The old bull says "Im going to walk quietly down there, without raising a ruckus, take my time and have all those cows"

Anyhow, if you havent got my point by now, I won't bother trying to explain it further.....I guess I'm back to lurking and reading the archives for more stuff. Y'all have fun

Metal recycling is a very "green" business.<ROTFL> And hey, coins are also very good for the environment as coins last longer than paper.
