United's Mileage Plus Program + Dell's Campus Program

Can I earn United miles on purchases made through Dell's Campus Program (student/alumni discount)?

Dell is one of the Mileage Plus members and has a lot of parameters and restrictions as to what is eligible for mileage award.

I want to go to the MP website, click on the Dell link to go to the Dell site, use the search feature on the Dell website to get to the link for the Dell Campus Store, and then make a purchase at a discounted price.

Can I earn miles this way or will this be voided since Dell has created a separate online store just for its Campus Program?

To top that off - one cannot use a 'live sales representative' or telephone them or that will void award eligibility.

Dell should be giving you miles just to go to their website. After their recent settlement for not fixing defective products years ago, I'd be running elsewhere to try and earn miles/buy a computer.

Not sure about this issue but if you use a Chase UA credit card you'll definitely get some miles. Plus 30K miles. www.united.com

Do a search for problems with Dell posting miles. I searched but couldn't find the thread (I need a class on how to search better). I seem to remember they will do almost anything not to pay the miles. For instance if they give you free shipping you no longer qualify because you received a discount.

Simple answer...get a MAC. My miles posted to my CO account.

I had a Dell and ended up in court with them. We settled out of court and Actually quite amicably. All I wanted was my money back and all it "cost" me was the time of the extended warranty I had used.

No you can not get miles from mileage plus online shopping when you go though the student site, you can only get miles for going through dell home do dell small business. Keep you eye on slickdeals.net you will find better deals on dells there rather than using the student link.

Forget dell on the mileage plus mall for PC or laptop purchases. From my experience they do not award miles.
