I would just double check things over at the slickdeals thread. There were some members on there that talked about not getting the rebate, but maybe they were confused that it is for reload and not loading the card?

I signed up for 3 of the Pass cards at a Simon Mall where Amex had a rep at a kiosk. My spouse and I both did it and got a $25 AMEX gift card for each one and the $25 bonus on each card for reloading a minimum of $25 on each one. Signed up in Dec. and got the bonuses on Jan. 18.

Not saying that it isn't true. Still waiting for my statement to close, but the Amex reps said the same thing about purchasing Amex gift cards. A rep even came on to flyertalk and claimed they would not earn points, but they did.

If anything you would still be getting the $25 credit per card.

$25 bonus not targeted or at least it has 2 generic websites.

www.americanexpress.com/passbonus
www.americanexpress.com/wantpass

Also, no monthly fee until Oct. Great for a kids spring trip. Get the $25 and be done before the fee kicks in.

Hi

I am a little confused ,

do you have to have a teen or young adult to sign up ?

can you load it from a Debit card account ?

if you just use it as a debit card do you have any fees like the $1.50 ATM fee?

I might want to get a couple of these to use as throwaway cars when signing up for 1 month on promos that seem to "forget" and charge you the second month automatically

How many places take American Express cards , most seem to want Mastercard / Visa

thanks for the info

Just checked my statement. Loading this card does not earn points.

I got this card for my daughter who lives in Canada. No restrictions on who can get them - it's just a re-loadable card. Not a debit card at POS (no fee). Holder can withdraw up to $200 per 7-day period in local currency from AMEX-branded ATMS; bank fees and AMEX charge of $1.50 apply. Currency conversion charge of 2.5% applies for all transactions outside of US. I have rarely encountered a situation in which I wanted to get something and couldn't use AMEX. If you are committed to a particular store or restaurant that doesn't take AMEX, then you have a problem. I just go elsewhere. Worldwide acceptance in Europe/Asia/Australia is not significantly different than MC/Visas - certainly better than JBC, Discover or Diners. Can't comment on Latin America but daughter will soon be in Peru so I'll know more soon.

Did it post as a charge or a cash advance? Were there any fees?
