reading ana search engine help

this might not be the right place.. sorry... when looking at partner flights on the ana award search engine it's showing "rq" by all the flights, which means "submit seat request to other airline" ... what does that mean? is that an available seat? if not, is there any way to find out if it's avail until before i transfer miles into the ana account?

It means exactly what it says - they have to request it. No guarantees that it will be available when the request is made.

From my experience, when trying to book on the phone with a *alliance carrier besides ANA, im told the seats are not available. As always, YMMV.

Get an account directly with VS and check there. If it is showing inventory then you can try NH but if not the NH site isn't worth bothering with.

I've noticed that often I get RQ for some options but after clicking "Search again" and resubmitting the same search, I get the "OK","-" or "x".
