Need more Delta points

We are buying and house and I thought with all the expenses I would find a credit card that we could use and rack up some miles. I need quite a few more miles to first class Detroit to Hong Kong and was wondering the best way to do this. Thanks.

Go here: http://www.delta.com/skymiles/ways_t...iles/index.jsp
and choose a credit card and whatever else appeals to you for earning miles.

Yes, I have several Delta miles cards but it's spend one dollar, get one mile. I was just wondering if there were newer ways to earn any miles for Delta or conversion to Delta miles.

Use the SPG Amex - 1 point per dollar, but 20,000 points transfers to 25,000 Delta miles (or more, under some promotions). So a net of 1.25 points per dollar.

And if I can refer you, I'll get 5K points also . . .

If you have the Delta AmEx Platinum or Reserve cards, then if you're really spending that much every year, you can get extra miles as part of their MilesBoost program. It's 10k MQM for each $25k spend on the Platinum and 15k for the each $30k spend on the Reserve.

You can get 250 skymiles in less than 5 minutes by filling out a survey. Info is in this thread:

Even after you accumulate the miles the award may not be available. Oh, that's for another thread. Good luck.

Did you already pick a realtor and, if applicable, a bank for your mortgage? Some miles earning ideas are at http://skymilesoffers.delta.com/financial_partners.php . I also had very good luck with http://awardsformortgageandrealestate.com/ and united miles a few years ago. They appear to partner with Delta also.

Marriott currently has a promo where you can earn up to 60,000 SM with stays at 5,000 points per stay. If you can find a cheap Fairfield Inn nearby, this can be good value even if you just check in and out.

AmEx platinum the way togo

We charge most on our AmEx platinum. Great for the travel upgrades and points. Bonus mall shopping is great too. Order online through their website from a number of different stores and earn 4x the points. There is the annual fee, but if you travel alot, it's worth it.

I understand this may not interest you now but a few years ago when I purchased a new car I stipulated that $15K of the price had to be on my DL AmEx care. "Let me talk with my manager . . . " "Well, OK, that will be fine."

Check Skymilesshopping.com too. I was buying a BBQ grill but rather than walking into the Home Depot and spending my $300 (1 mile per dollar on my Plat Skymiles AMEX) I bought a gift card from homedepot.com via skymilesshopping.com and got 3 miles/dollar + my 1 mile/dollar on my card. Very quickly I got 1200 skymiles for spending what I had planned to spend anyway.

Oh, skymilesshopping.com miles/dollar vary and even change based on the date (Mother's Day specials had flowers at 12 miles/dollar). Not all merchants offer miles on gift cards purchases, so verify that before buying.
