Should I wait until this statement closes to apply for the UA visa? Or does it really have no bearing?

I just don't want to take any chances with my BA miles, but I also know this deal could dissapear any day.

Oh, and is there a minimum spend requirement for this one?

Maggers: from what ive been reading, you may have to wait 4-6 mths for another Chase card ..but then again YMMV.....

This is definitely a great deal, much better than the normal 30k bonus. I've had two friends apply for this. Its a little tricky that you have to go through the UA agent in order to reach Chase. I asked the Chase agent if there was a direct phone number, but they said there isn't. You have to go through UA.

Wife called and

got through to CHase. She was unilaterally told that she had a Visa and could not apply. The only Visa she has is the BA... She had a UA Visa a while back but it was cancelled and there is no record of it online. Any thoughts?

If you go through the phone tree and try to apply for the card, it will lead you to a dead end.

Good luck and jump on it now, b/c I doubt it will be around for very long.

BooYah.
Got approved five minutes back over phone.
Will receive card in 2 weeks.

Chase agent mentioned that there is no $250 minimum to be charged on card to get 50K promotion miles. They will be deposited after first usage of card.

Offer still alive @ 10am, 04/15/10...

One thing I noticed in the LOOOONG spiel about the terms:

FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEES ARE 3%!

That's pretty darn high... But if you only use it in the US, not a concern.

The 3% is pretty typical for most (though certainly not all) US credit cards. I know Amex charges 3% on most of its cards, as does MC.

I must be lucky... Most of mine charge 1.5%...

Gary: Many of us on here got in on the BA 100K, and have also received the UA 50K card. I would suggest just calling back and trying again. Good Luck!!!

I have been using CapitalOne Cards for foreign transactions. They don't charge transaction fees.

They are now offering it by email invite to some MileagePlus members with a simple online application. Details in the thread in the United forum.
