Double elite-status miles?

Do you anticipate the U. S. legacy carriers to repeat this year their 2009 promotions enabling their frequent flyers to earn double miles toward attaining elite status in 2010? Any speculation as to when?

they might, but i doubt it....i think it would be dumb to do it....they should look at the effectiveness of the program which won't be til late in the year or next year.....the success should be measured by the # of people that retained the status reached by dm's by bis....

ps....i only had about 7k eqm's in 2009, but somehow am still plt!....go figure....

Well, if you are at 4.8MM, you will never fall below PLT, correct? No surprise there!

See also the threads in the AA and United forums speculating it.

I think it will depend of AA has a strike or not. If they do strike, and if it's long enough to hurt the bottom line, they may have to offer DEQM as a way to get people back on their planes. If they do that, then of course the usual group will follow and offer.

There are busy threads on this topic in the forums of all the airlines that ran these promos in the past. Not surprisingly, aside from this basically being a guessing game, the consensus in each forum is specific to that airline and its situation. I'd suggest looking there, rather than for a general answer here.
