FF program--REALLY confused, things got complicated--need advice
I had a similar issue before and thought I had it decided, but now AirTran has changed everything!
So my life story is as follows:
I go to school at BWI, live at BOS, see my girlfriend at GSO, and vacation at FLL. I do about 5 roundtrips between BWI and BOS every year, and maybe 4 between BWI and GSO. Then one more to Florida and maybe some miscellaneous roundtrip elsewhere. I am presently shooting for silver on US by way of 30 segments in a year, or that fast track to preferred that starts in June I think. I am envisioning a 4 segment run this summer. Oh, and I do not mind the indirect routing (BWI-LGA-BOS) on US.
My fetishes are good seats (exits and biz/F) and inflight service. My aspirations are an elite program where I can get upgrades (as a Silver) and priority check in/security.
I have about 8,000 Dividend miles (1200 PQM) and 4 segments this year on US. On FL, I have 4.5 credits and no segments.
Now, my question, should I switch to FL and go for Elite by taking a bunch of BOS-BWI flights under their new double promotion, or should I stick with US and do either a silver challenge or wait for another fast track this summer?
I am worried on Airtran my credits might not be "liquid" enough--that I am limited by my destinations. But I have been very satisfied with their inflight services, unlike many here.
Would US match my FL status if I wanted to switch?
Hmmmmm

Don't know the answer, but for this one, I'd:
a. Read the New Airline Status Match Master Thread in MilesBuzz, and if I didn't find the answer there (or did but wanted more),
b. Search and scan the US forum.

Another loooong "which carrier's loyalty program" thread
It would be much easier for your fellow FTers to follow and comment on your situation if you had used one main thread.

You have no status now, right? AFAIK you have to have status before you can request a status match.
If all you want is a crack at better seats and a faster security line, and you don't care so much about racking up miles or exotic awards, I would achieve
AirTran status as quickly as possible, taking advantage of that promo. Then, if you like, see if US will match it. But basically you have to learn to stick with one airline or the other.

On balance, this thread is more appropriate for our MilesBuzz forum. I'll move it there. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz
