if you are in US Air, you might check out the 240% bonus on the US thread, 140 miles per dollar for Track It Back and lesser amounts for other merchants. Get creative, one example for one of my purchases there:
$1000 Barnes and Noble Gift Card =
1000 SPG points for the Amex purchase
10500 US Miles for the promotion purchase
8000 Marriott points for purchases with the card
15-20% discount on each purchase of books to sell in my store plus member discount = $300 profit
I did this more than once due to the $1000 limit on B&N, so there was also a $50 statement credit for the SPG Amex Open card promo.
