Buy Elite

US Air has the option to "Buy-up" to all of their elite levels. Do any other airlines offer this?

Welcome to Flyertalk, we are glad to have you here, there are many people who know a lot more about these programs than I but US Airways is the only status I know of that you can buy outright, others can basically be bought through getting the credit cards.

IC Hotels Ambassador Status can be purchased though.

Most of the beauty of having status is earning it anyway, there are a lot of good promotions out there that will let you achieve status faster than you might think but you still have to earn it.

AA offers a shortcut to elite status.

With a small copay you can reach Gold by earning 5000EQPs or Platinum by earning 10000EQPs.

The program is documented on a sticky at the AA section,

AA has also, in some years past, offered to let "near miss" customers pay to keep their existing status. I don't recall if it was offered for 2008 or 2009.
