The Travelocity statement credits have their highest return in $400 increments. You can redeem whatever amount you want. The highest value (4%) is achieved at these increments. So yes you can stack.

What I really like about this is the lack of restrictions. Trying to find a Saver award when you actually want to fly is not easy. SPG and Amex MR is only better when you luck out and find a saver award somewhere for a first class ticket that is ridiculously over-priced to begin with.

At $100k spend, I get $4,000 in Travelocity credit. I'd rather spend $1,000 on an economy ticket to China and spend the other $3,000 on whatever. I know some people "must" fly in first class though. So to each his own. I'd rather keep the $3,000 in credit and also earn the miles on an econ ticket.

On hotels, you are limited to SPG brands. I can pick any hotel on Travelocity. Just way more flexibility to travel where and when I want to.

This seems to be the critical ambiguity surrounding the Travelocity Mastercard. Have you actually redeemed $800 toward a single purchase? To now all I have seen are reports from cardholders who think this can be done. based on what appears to be an orphaned web page (i.e. there is no way to navigate to the page from travelocity.com homepage). The terms published by Barclay's show redemptions capped at 20,000 points for $400.

I'm not saying your interpretation is wrong. I hope you are right, but I'm looking for verification through experience.

The ambiguity is over. I have about 100k Travelocity points in my account and linked to Travelocity. I can book anything on Travelocity and take it right up to the confirm page. It asks me how many points I want to use. You can mix cash and points at your leisure.

So for example if I book a flight to Hawaii at $820 I have the ability to use 40,000 points and pay the $20 in cash. It works. I could also use only 20k points for a $400 credit and pay the rest. Very flexible.

Yes, people have different needs. Some prefer front cabin for long haul international flights for part of their dream vacation experience; others have elderly relatives for whom transpacific travel in coach would induce a higher likelihood of health complications so its actually more economical to avoid it from the beginning.

With regard to hotel, SPG redemption is said to be of quite good value, particularly for high end hotels. I'd consider it another "to each of their own" situation; for example, when traveling for leisure, my preference for booking hotel would be through priceline or hotwire.

A transpac first class ticket (if you can find a saver award when you want to fly) is potentially a better value. Difficult to pull off though.

You won't get an SPG high end property for $10k in spending points. Maybe $20k. $20k spending gets me $800 in Travelocity credit to use anywhere. I can find some darn nice hotels for $800 a night.

That's very encouraging. However, to return to the original topic, the Travelocity Mastercard may not be the best choice for a business owner because Barclay's credit limits are typically small and a personal card does not allow easy tracking and management of employee use.

I see 4% on Travelocity purchases and 2% on all else. Am I missing something? Not bad, but 4% on everything would be awesome!

You get 2 points back for each $ spent.
Each point is 2c value when redeeming at Traveolcity.
The US bank Flexperks Card is quite similar.
it also allows pooling of miles (points) from a business,
as well as from many personal household accounts!

The problem is that redemptions are not changeable.
So you better be sure of your plans.
With an SPG point ticket, you get no new miles, but you can cancel a ticket for 150$-250$ and get back all your airline miles.
A cancellable ticket will cost a lot more.

FFI is incorrect.

$1 = 2 points (all purchases) on the annual fee card.

Redeem 20k points for $400 credit.

Works out to 4 cents per dollar spent (4%). Travelocity purchases would be 8 cents per dollar spent.

The no annual fee card is half of that.

It is 4% and it is awesome. But it seems like most people here only fly first class refundable transpac flights on saver awards that are always available...j/k!

I was an SPG fan too until this came along. Way more versatile and a far better return in the vast majority of cases.

Can you pre-pay on the Travelocity card to make large(r) purchases?

Not sure about pre-pay. I have a 12k limit and I just make a payment every few days to bring the balance down to zero in order to charge more.

Some cards explicitly allow pre-paying. My Citibank AA MC does, and to a lesser extent so does the SPG Amex, although they don't guarantee immediate availability of funds. Even with my fairly large credit limits I still find it quite useful to be able to pre-pay 100k or more on occasion in order to make large purchases. Maybe I'll call Travelocity/Barclays and ask about it.

Thanks for the explanation. Looks like I'll be applying for yet another credit card!
