Damn you! I wish YOU people would quit finding these great deals

I'd really like to stay home ya know

Got a short trip on hold while I try to talk myself out of it:

5/14 - 5/19 IAD-NRT - $545.29

Decent as a "extended" MR - I really enjoy Tokyo...

Getting $584 from ORD in April. Non-stops out, via SFO/LAX on returns.

Found ORD-IAD-NRT NRT-SFO-ORD $598.29 Thur May 7 return Tu May 12 K-fare. 4.18 c/eqm. Looks like there are some other odd routings out of ORD (DEN?) too.

Thanks OP!

It looks like the K-fare went up to $893 from IAD...anyone who has it on hold may want to go for it...

That's what I see on UA also. However, if there are any OneWorld flyers out there, it looks like AA matched, and I see DCA-ORD-NRT-ORD/DFW-DCA for $593 throughout March and April.

It looks like the fare might have had the YQ surcharge filed incorrectly. The original fare was:

Tax: UA YQ surcharge $68.00
Now on the same itinerary on ITA it shows:

Tax: UA YQ surcharge $416.00
So if anyone can still find K availability ($199 base fare each way), and can figure out how to fuel bust it, then $500ish should still be a possibility.

I tried to purchase my held itin and it gave me an error about processing payment and to call. Gave a ring and was put on hold for about five minutes and they finally processed it at $545.29

Thanks to the OP for the find and to Mbenz for the heads up on the fare change!

This happened to me as well, except that my fare was $580 or so.

Using sample dates of April 6-9, I get the following pricing:

Fare (A1): UA WASTYO KXJP01 fare (rules) , psgr type ADT $373.50
Fare (A2): UA TYOWAS KXJP01 fare (rules) , psgr type ADT $373.50

Tax: US International Departure Tax $16.10
Tax: US September 11th Security Fee $5.00
Tax: UA YQ surcharge $68.00
Tax: USDA APHIS Fee $5.00
Tax: US Immigration Fee $7.00
Tax: US Customs Fee $5.50
Tax: Japan International Passenger Facility Charge ¥2040
Tax: US International Arrival Tax $16.10
Tax: US Passenger Facility Charge $9.00
Total for 1 adult passenger: $900.30

(Emphasis mine)

Ergo, it appears the fuel surcharge remains quite low and the fare itself has popped back up to less compelling territory.

I would like to jump into this AA fare to requalify but I need to slow down for now while I need to replenish my financial travel allotment. I am sure fares like these will come up again for fall. Nice find!

I'm sure I know the company line on this question, but has anyone ever gotten an agent to change a name on a held reservation before booking?

I have a couple versions of this fare on hold until midnight tonight ex-WAS at the $540ish price. I'm only going to be able to talk Mrs. Tulane41 into one of them, so if anyone has ever heard of a name change being pulled off, let me know.
