it's an opportunity to go somewhere nice at a good price, and earn some mileage along the way.

with USA coach-class traveling conditions being what they are these days, I think fewer and fewer of us are interested in butt in seat miles just for the sake of miles.

It appears so. NW currently has a $550 all-in fare for PHL-HNL. However, a 3 day stay is required.
