Red face Help w/ first MR?

OK. So I worked this out over a week or so and have been watching it for about a month. It's really tempting...but I just can't do it. 10c/mile just doesn't cut it.

I worked out the following for the 5 day period before Thanksgiving.

Leaving Nov 21 11:20a - Returning Nov 25 12:30p
MSP-DTW-AMS-LHR-CPH-NRT-CPH-LHR-AMS-DTW-MSP

This gives me Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday morning in Tokyo with 4 hours in Copenhagen and 9 (though overnight) in London. London being my favorite city in the world, I think I can find something to do :-)

Anyway...this comes out to 21400 miles split across Skyteam and * Alliance for 1982. You'll notice I'm elite on both, so that's actually a good thing for me.

My question is, I guess, is there any way to make something like this better? Can I get any better class segments for the same price? Can I make this cheaper somehow? Basically just maximizing the MR here. Most miles, lowest price, best seats.

Sorry if I need to do more on this on my own. I'm more than willing to do so, but I'm just fresh out of ideas on how.

THANKS!!!

KW

Give us more details. What is the fare type, how much is the fuel surcharge and price? To solve the problem, we need as much information as you can give us in order to provide alternatives. For example, would the routing allow you to go via ATL for some extra miles, ir is this a mileage-based fare?

Not a bad MR if the cost was right and at 10 CPM for me would be too high. Am I correct in guessing that it's $2400 for the ticket? I have to think that there are probably many MR's that would be a lot less then that, but each person has their own threshold, also is this in Y or C? Cause in Y that's a darn looooong trip.

I'm locked in MSP also. We have a totally different challenge than even people in CHI.

I haven't looked for a while, but sometimes one can do SJU over New York in the 3 to 5 cents a mile range.

Also, sometimes one can route a Chicago trip via ATL and/or SLC and come out pretty good. At the moment MSP-CHI is over $300 though. It only works when the fare is down in the $100 range.

Mostly I just sigh when I read those coast to coast trips. One could fly out to one coast or the other, do several of those transcontinental deals, and then back to MSP.

I'm guessing you don't have lot of free time so jammed this long run all into a vacation period?

Post More Info

The price is in the post - $1982. So...more like 9.25 cents/mile...but still a little too high.

Here are the fare codes:
QLWANGB $418.50
WLUKECO 246.50
KLUKECO 221.50
QLXANGB $388.50

I don't know about the fuel surcharge...this is what I got from ITA.

As for routings...I have no idea how to find the routing rules. I've tried every method on this site (including the expedia.ca trick) that I could find to no avail. I don't know how to get routing rules.

Romelle - Basically, I wanted to find a trip to an exciting location (Tokyo sure qualifies) and then try and mess with the routings to get the most mileage for my buck. I thought this was interesting and worth while since I get to stop over in London and get some time in Copenhagen.

Not necessarily a time thing, I've been looking at doing the MSP-SFO-MSP trips overnight for under $200 as an OK backup...but it's just not worth it for me yet. I'd be perfectly fine with doing something over a good weekend (fly out Friday night and get back Sunday sometime) if the price/mileage was right. Just thought this might be fun if I could make it more worthwhile.
