Will there be an amount of time after a fare is gone that it will stay on this board, or will it go to discussion immediately?

I was thinking the same thing when I read the post. While it's a good idea to keep the clutter out of the MR deals, I feel the same way about the clutter that it will cause to the MR discussions. A separate sub-forum would be the best of both worlds.

Throw in my vote for a second sub-forum. ^ ^

I think they can fit well into MR Discussion forum since that's exactly what's going on with the thread once the fare is gone so I personally don't see the need for yet another subforum.

I'll admit to my first reaction being :eek: quickly followed by :mad: but then I took a deep breath and thought :) it's no huge deal flipping over to MR Discussion forum. So all is :cool: .

The authority to create a new 'Fare Gone' sub-forum is the responsibility of the Talkboard.

Feel free to post on that forum if you think there is a need for another subforum.

In the meantime, the movement of FARE GONE threads to MR Discussion is certainly not a cure-all solution, but hopefully it will make the 'MR Deals' forum a more streamlined place.

And to reiterate, while I posted the thread, it was indeed a team decision with fellow Mods VPescado and rcs85551 to agree on the FARE GONE decision.

DMR - Decent MR
NBMR - Not Bad MR
GD - Good Deal
HOMR - Half Off usual fare MR

For example, there was a thread create earlier about a fare that some considered a MR, others considered it just a good deal, and of course, others thought it not worth mentioning at all.

Alas, too many opinions, financial situations etc. to agree on what constitutes a pure MR. Some say 3 cents or less, others say 4. Most I've seen lately have been 5-6! :rolleyes:

The truth is, with fuel prices as they are and the airlines rightful quest for for revenue coupled with software development to mitigate, or eliminate mistake fares altogether, we may not have much of a choice but to redefine what a true MR is anyhow.

Before I get flamed, I just want to say, pun was intended. :cool:

Since there are so many different MR motivations at work here- (lowest EQM, lowest RDM, upgradeable fare, time constraints, cost constraints), its probably best to not to label a fare.

Really, the 'staying power' of a thread to remain on page one of this forum, is ultimately the best indicator of the merit of a given fare posted.

Well, it's definitely better for the fare gone deals to be in the discussion sub-forum than in the deals forum.

I'll have to post in the talk board forum to ask for the creation of a fare gone sub-forum.
