Has criteria been established for determining when the FARE GONE label should be applied?

In the case of many mistake fares, it seems that a few eager beavers usually declare DEAL DEAD hours (or days) before it's gone -- in that time more experienced deal hunters are still able to find it using alternative booking engines, more flexible dates, etc.

And what about the fare war deals that tend to come and go over the course of a few days? These are the ones that often get loaded and pulled cyclically with each fare load?

I'm sure the mods have discussed these issues, but figured I'd mention them just in case. Simply leaving FARE GONE threads in the Deals section for a day or two, just to be sure they are cold, would probably do the trick.

I think we've been pretty circumspect before we declare a deal dead. That said, there are a couple of occasions where we had to 'revive' a fare gone thread. But for the most part, I don't think we have itchy trigger fingers to declare a fare gone; we track the posts and if there is a critical mass of posters who can't get the deal over a reasonable amount of time, then usually that's our cue. Subjective process, yes; effective, pretty much so.

Criteria for a FARE GONE label is that the fare has definetely been pulled.

This can be verified through several means; I personally use my direct access to Amadeus to check whatever needs to be checked.
