Yes, thanks OP. Considering this books as being fully refundable. And am looking to get into (and out of) Europe late this year, early next, this will be kept as a hip pocket return for 4 of us.
Course still need to get a decently priced West Coast flight into Europe (even better would be Spain) but will take this now considering that if nothing else, if I find a good R/T flight, I can cancel and get a full refund.

Thanks for the tip, booked myself a pre-thanksgiving return to the US, though I got a booking error about using the back button on the browser. I can still see the booking details in my account, but so far no email confirmation or cc purchase notification (which usually comes instantaneously). I guess wait a couple of days for something to show up, then contact LH if nothing?

I got the ticketing email with ticket numbers instantly. I had a mileage plus economy ticket previously on the same flights and I cancelled it. I hope LH honors the fare.

Decided to go through the booking process again, since they are refundable, and got instant emails and notifications, feeling better now. However, the my bookings page in my Miles & More account shows two bookings (each with a booking code): the recent one with the email confirmations, and the first one that errored and shows 0 passengers and a midnight flight time, which isn't correct, probably glitched. I was able to choose the same seat for both bookings.

I have tried Polaris previously (FCO-EWR) and the service was great (food was ok) so I’m happy to keep using it. I did want to try LH because I never have but the product does not look as good and the schedule did not fit as well either.
