Are-Mileage Runs To Asia Too Expensive

When Delta had a greater presence at Narita it seemed you could always score some pretty reasonable fares on Sky Team routes. Recent searches seem to indicate much higher fares. Any suggestions as per strategy to land lower Sky Team fares to Asia or has that horse left the barn?

Do you have a China visa? If so, there are plenty of opportunities for MR

IMHO - it has something to do with DL pulling back from Asia almost completely.

Also - generally Asian airlines are not eager to deep discount its tickets.

The game becomes a lot easier with access to China, IMO.

There are plenty of MR opportunities to Asia. I'm on one now on DL from CLT to PVG (Shanghai). I was in coach on outbound but GUC should clear on the return as the upgrade list shows 20 D! seats available for departure on the 23. China Eastern also often has MR opportunities to various Asian destinations usually from ORD, JFK or LAX.. Korean not so much. Get a 10 year Chinese visa.

The horse is definitely still in the barn. As others have mentioned, a Chinese visa is necessary. China Eastern and Delta consistently have terrific MR opportunities. Ie: I did LAX-SEA-PEK on DL for $360 RT. I've flown LAX-PVG-HKG on MU for sub $500. Various other destinations are available year round.

Huh? Just go to China. Tons of cheap fares to China from all of the Chinese carriers including non-alliance members.

Totally agree with ya. I've also flown with UA and AA to China on the cheap. At the end of the day, people just gotta keep an eye out for the cheap fares. It's not that hard.

I've also seen plenty of cheap CA and MU J-fares to KUL and SIN if one wants to pad their MQM/EQM.
